ABOUT DAX, ANCESTRAL CITY AND EUROPEAN FIRST THERMAL CENTER
Since "Aquae Tarbellicae", its first name from Roman times, meaning the water of the Tarbelles, Dax has been renowned for its hot waters, of exceptional physicochemical and microbiological purity.
At the forefront of innovation, the laboratory of the Grand Dax Public Water Service and the Dax Mud Board have set up a unique process in the world for the preparation of TERDAX® thermal mud.
The innovation lies in the conditions of meeting and mixing of the elements, as close as possible to the conditions of the natural maturation of the peloid, made up of Adour silt, mineral water, Dax blue algae (or cyanobacteria) and Clostridium bifermentans.
Dax is today a reference resort in rheumatology, phlebology and fibromyalgia and has no fewer than 16 thermal establishments, including a thermal hospital, which receive up to 60,000 spa guests each year.
But beyond its thermal spa offering, its natural environment in the heart of the Landes forest, on the banks of the Adour river and close to the Atlantic coast, its traditions and the warm welcome of its inhabitants make it a holiday destination.
