Prechacq-les-Bains and its astonishing hole of Madame

We'll take you for a walk in Préchacq-les-Bains, a town centered around water in all its forms! A seaside town , Préchacq has a thermal spa for treatments for respiratory tract and rheumatism. Its waters have properties and we also invite you to discover a water and geological curiosity on site, in the middle of the forest: the Trou de Madame!

Visit Préchacq-les-Bains

The commune of Préchacq-les-bains is extensive, to discover it it is advisable to see several centers separated by a few kilometers: the village, the old village, the forest and the thermal establishment. To do this, we followed the brochure of the Association l'Avoir which offers the Piedschacquoise, a 10km walk to meet the particularities and points of interest of the commune. To be found at the Terres de Chalosse Tourist Office.

Leave your car in the main village, there is a small square with the rural center. At this place there is a sports hall, a school group with the town hall which made it possible to bring all the students together in the same place. Because in these small villages, the schools are often dispersed! Some pretty traditional Landes houses in the village. Recognizable by their roofs which descend very close to the ground and their colorful or very visible half-timbering. You will first cross the river Louts, which flows a little further into the Adour. On the way you will see wash houses, it is a small vernacular heritage specific to the commune, which is really oriented around water. The Hountine wash house, the Hourn wash house... You will reach the old village, where the village church is located (which is therefore not close to the current village).

This is the first spa in the town! At the beginning of the 20th century, this thermal spring was materialized by a stone construction to capture the sulfurous waters coming out at about 30 degrees. Imagine that here there was a hotel on 2 floors, rooms, a boiler etc. The source has a beautiful blue color and a characteristic sulfur smell. It is said that its waters treat skin diseases such as psoriasis or eczema. Be careful, the water is clear but it is not drinkable!

The Préchacq-les-Bains Thermal Baths

Continue your walk to the thermal spa, passing through Avenue des Sources. It is managed by the Chaine Thermale du Soleil. The place cultivates its own mud, extracting silt from the nearby Adour.

You can come for approved treatments to treat rheumatism or respiratory problems. Activities can be added to enhance the benefits of the treatment, and a fitness area allows you to stay in shape during your stay. The residence is quiet, family-friendly, and pleasant.
