    • In the heart of the Landes region, Samadet has left its mark on the Tursan landscape, building its centuries-old reputation around the "Royal Faience Factory" established in 1732 by Abbot de Roquépine. Discover the trades, some little-known and others now extinct, such as the painter, the potter, the molder, the lime burner, the basket maker, and the handle maker, who worked tirelessly and demonstrated their expertise to ensure that this earthenware factory flourished and its influence extended far beyond our borders for 100 years.

Come and admire the panorama of Samadet productions at the Departmental Museum of Earthenware and Tableware in Samadet and appreciate the finesse of the decorations and objects that have become collections.

      • From earthenware to the pleasures of the table, there's only one step…

Next, discover how tastes and table manners evolve over the centuries and with changing lifestyles. Journey through time and explore the world of table setting with beautifully arranged tables, interviews, short films, and olfactory experiences.

      • TEMPORARY EXHIBITION - April 25, 2026 to November 15, 2027

" FREE EATING. The French at the table in two centuries of photographs"
To mark the Bicentenary of Photography, celebrated nationally in 2026-2027, the Museum of Earthenware and Table Arts is honored to host the exhibition "Eating for free. The French at the table in two centuries of photos", presented in 2018 at the Museum of European and Mediterranean Civilisations (MUCEM), in Marseille.

In a version adapted to the Landes region and through a selection of photographs dating from 1823 to the present day, this exhibition explores the evolution of the French meal, classified as intangible cultural heritage of humanity by UNESCO in 2010.

Anonymous photographs and works by renowned artists ( Nicéphore Niépce, Robert Doisneau, Willy Ronis, Martin Parr, etc. ) are juxtaposed to offer a chronological journey through two centuries, showcasing the French table in its most diverse forms. From meals in the trenches of the First World War to diplomatic staging, from Sunday family gatherings to television studios, from wedding tables to the constant deluge of images on social media, this exhibition reveals how photography reflects the social and cultural transformations of this heritage.

Within a playful and interactive immersive experience, the images of the exhibition engage in dialogue with the museum's tableware collections, excerpts from cult television programs, advertising clips, press images, and contemporary artistic videos.

A collection of amateur photos, in which everyone is invited to participate, complements the discovery.

Both educational, showing how to make an earthenware object, and a historical view of these objects through the ages, their daily use and food hygiene, a beautiful place to visit and revisit... accessible to all.

An interesting museum dedicated to the history of high-end earthenware production, with a particular focus on the renowned manufacturers based in the region. Also well-suited for creative children! The presentation is educational, and there are many beautiful objects from all periods to admire. The visit is worthwhile not only for the beauty of the tableware but also for the clear explanations of the various stages of the earthenware production process.
