    • In the heart of the Landes, Samadet has imprinted its name on the land of Tursan, building its centuries-old reputation around the "Royal fayance factory" created in 1732 by the Abbot of Roquépine. Discover trades, some little known and others disappeared, such as the painter, the turner, the moulder, the limemaker, the beader, the handler, who worked and showed all their know-how so that this earthenware prospered and shined far beyond our borders for 100 years. Come and admire the panorama of Samadétois productions and appreciate the finesse of the decorations and objects that have become collections.

From earthenware to the pleasures of the table, there is only one step...

Discover that tastes and table manners evolve over the centuries and lifestyles. So travel through time and explore the world of tableware with set tables, interviews, short films and olfactory experiences.

EXHIBITION " Absolument céramique ! Louis DAGE (1885-1961)"

Anxious to contribute to the knowledge and dissemination of Landes heritage, the museum will present in 2024 and 2025 the first exhibition dedicated to Louis Dage (1885-1961), a talented local ceramist but largely unknown to the public.
Through more than 150 ceramics, this exhibition will present the career of this passionate artist who has devoted his entire life to ceramics, from his beginnings in a Lille manufactory to his installation in Saint-Sever where he develops a neo-Samadet production in the «Nouvelle Faïencerie de l'Adour», while pursuing a very varied artistic work on enamels.
According to the current fashions, the production of Louis Dage was prolific and flamboyant by the use of bright colors: many vases, dishes, pitchers, necessary for cigars and spades -flowers as well as sculptures of animals made the happiness of buyers.
Louis Dage is not left behind with a remarkable technicality on some parts of his production: beef blood, crispy, cracked, until using gravel of the Adour to compensate for a lack of raw materials during the Second World War.
In addition to inscribing Louis Dage's creations in major national artistic movements, such as Art Nouveau or the Art Deco period, this exhibition will be an opportunity to draw historical and artistic continuity, showing how 18th-century earthenware production in Samadet fed the ceramics factories in the Landes region, which were inspired by its know-how,do and its decorations to create new, more modern pieces that fit into the artistic currents of their time.

The entrance fee is about €4.50 and less if you are young. The museum is small, but it's fine if you like ceramics and its history. The gift area needs to have more diversity, since they hardly had magnets or souvenirs from the area. They give you some sheets with different languages, including French, English, Spanish... and they have different rooms, one of them for a temporary exhibition. They also have perfume smells that you can try as you change rooms (although with smells that are not very recommended) hahahaha but you have to try everything. It was fun overall

Very interesting museum, beautiful exhibitions, the person who paints is a paid artist. Only Bénol for me displays the entry price, is not the same as what we pay at the checkout. To visit you will find tableware from our ancestors
