A nature break at the Lacs de Nerbis

We take you on a little getaway to discover the Nerbis Lakes ! On the banks of the Adour River, which is the central rib of this region of Chalosse in the Landes, the Nerbis Lakes are a little paradise for fishermen, wildlife and flora observation enthusiasts, and walkers.

The lakes of Nerbis

2 ponds of 16 hectares were born from the exploitation of old gravel pits and quarries. On the beds of the Adour, in Antiquity crops were planted to take advantage of the mineral-rich soils and plant decomposition. Today, the quarries have become ponds, which have been developed for the practice of fishing and the enjoyment of all. An entire ecosystem meets in this new space to colonize! The two ponds allow everyone (in compliance with the legislation for these 2nd category spaces) to practice No Kill fishing. Picnic tables and paths for pedestrians and fishermen are provided.

The village of Nerbis is located above the lakes. It is at a record altitude of 103m ! It is one of the greatest differences in altitude in the Landes. Moreover, from the Saint-Pierre church, a walk goes towards the lakes (5 to 6km) and it is one of the most hilly in the Landes ;) Nerbis is on the Vézelay route to go to Santiago de Compostela, it is a small stopover for pilgrims.

Things to do around Nerbis

• Discover Chalosse ! Take a bike ride along the Adour greenway or drive from fortified town to small village. It is a calm region, ideal for relaxation.
• Come visit Mugron , there is also a lake in Mugron, but for swimming and having fun this time!
• Not far away is Monfort-en-Chalosse , also worth visiting
• Still in Chalosse and towards Tursan, you will enjoy visiting Hagetmau and the pretty fortified town of Geaune
