About

  • English
    • In the Landes region, Landes Chalosse welcomes you to a setting of green hillsides, viewpoints over the Pyrenees, dotted with bastides and villages with peaceful charm.

      Saint-Sever, a concentrate of authenticity

Saint-Sever, an ancient medieval town, owes its reputation to its majestic abbey church, founded at the end of the 10th century and listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site as part of the Routes of Santiago de Compostela. It was in this abbey that the Beatus, a precious 11th-century manuscript, was illuminated. Wandering through its historic streets, you're sure to stumble upon the Jacobins convent, now a museum, or the Maison Sentex, a private residence paved with Roman-era mosaics. Elegant townhouses will regularly catch your eye!

Lovers of heritage and wine, make a stop in Tursan

It is here in Tursan that you will discover unmissable heritage treasures, including the fortified towns (bastides) and Samadet earthenware, as well as gastronomic delights such as Tursan wine. Pimbo, the oldest bastide in the Landes region, built in 1268, and Geaune, a bastide of character established in 1318, are both worth exploring.

Experience a unique adventure in the heart of Prehistory in Brassempouy

A major site of European prehistory, the Brassempouy Prehistoric Site covers more than 30,000 years of human occupation. Interestingly, it was in the archaeological site of the Pope's Caves that the Lady with the Hood was discovered, a small statuette carved from mammoth ivory, which is the oldest known representation of a human face. Considered the Mona Lisa of Prehistory, it is now the emblem of the National Archaeological Museum where it is housed.

Hagetmau, a flowery, sporty town, and its St. Girons crypt

"Do some sport," these few words take on their full meaning in Hagetmau with the

"Cité Verte," a unique site with high-quality sports facilities in a relaxing setting. Whether you're a passionate athlete or a casual visitor, you'll be captivated by the remarkable listed historical monuments and the serene atmosphere of the Crypt of Saint-Girons, a place of worship for pilgrims on the Way of St. James. Open from July to August, Tuesday to Sunday, 2:30 pm to 6:30 pm, and during the spring and autumn school holidays.

      A cuisine that others envy!

Saint-Sever, if this name is so familiar to you, it's surely thanks to the chicken, the first red label in history!
But rest assured, duck is not to be outdone, and here you'll find confit, magret, or foie gras prepared in countless ways. Our producers and restaurateurs are its best ambassadors!

The Landes-style bull race, a tradition that is truly local to us.

Renowned for the Landes-style bullfighting held in its arenas, Pomarez is nicknamed "the Mecca of Landes-style bullfighting." Come and meet the passionate ambassadors who will introduce you to this unique place.
