Gabarret is a charming town in the heart of Armagnac country. This former capital of a viscounty has managed to preserve some vestiges of its history despite the wars of religion which largely destroyed it.

Among the sites not to be missed:

• The Maison du Gabardan, a medieval half-timbered house dating from 1456, is one of the few monuments to have survived these conflicts. It is a true witness to the town's past.
• The Gabarret arenas, built in 1914, are also an emblematic place. They are characterized by their oval shape, typical of Spanish-Landes arenas, and can accommodate up to 2,500 people for Landes races and other events.
• The Saint-Luperc church, rebuilt in the 19th century on the site of a former Benedictine priory, retains its Romanesque portal and houses remarkable frescoes created by a Belgian Jewish artist who took refuge during the Second World War.
