Directions Atlantis Loisirs - Discover the wild beauty of the Landes region by canoe

About

  • English
    • The Contis stream is a true sanctuary for wild fauna and flora.

You will begin your descent on a small, narrow river called Le Vignac.

Here, the trees have formed a canopy of vegetation overhead, known as a riparian forest. The clear, shallow waters of this river are accessible to all. Please be quiet, for this is where the European mink lives.

Three kilometers downhill later, at the confluence of the Onesse, we arrive at the Courant de Contis.

A myriad of mercury damselflies and other dragonflies of various colours await you, along with several bird species and European pond turtles basking in the sun perched on a log protruding from the water. Birds live here in great numbers: kingfishers, grey herons, bitterns, ducks, etc.

Be discreet and attentive, as this is also the territory of the European otter. With a bit of luck, you might spot it before it dives in search of the crayfish it loves to eat.

The flora is very rich: the swamp hibiscus unfurls its pale pink flower in the sun, the royal fern commands respect, this magnificent fern has not evolved for 180 million years.

The final section, or Ancient Forest, will allow you to discover a cathedral of centuries-old trees intertwining to form a majestic vault.

The river is accessible to everyone!

Come and experience a family adventure in the great outdoors and discover a still unspoiled natural area.
