The Courant de Contis is a true sanctuary for wild flora and fauna.

You will begin your descent on a small narrow river called Le Vignac.

Here, the trees have erected a canopy of vegetation above your head called riparian forest. The clear, shallow waters of this river are accessible to all. Be quiet because this is where the European mink lives.

Three kilometers of descent later, at the confluence of the Onesse, we arrive at the Courant de Contis.

A myriad of mercury damselflies and other dragonflies of different colors await you, several species of birds, turtles (European pond turtles) sunbathing perched on a wooden trunk coming out of the water. Birds live here in large numbers: kingfishers, grey herons, bitterns, ducks etc.

Be discreet and attentive because this is also the domain of the European otter . With a bit of luck you will be able to see it before it dives in search of crayfish which it delights in.

The flora is very rich: the marsh hibiscus unfurls its pale pink flower in the sun, the royal fern commands respect, this magnificent fern has not evolved for 180 million years.

The last part or Ancient forest will let you discover a cathedral of trees several centuries old intertwining to form a majestic vault.
