La Gainerie d’Art, an artisanal practice to decorate your objects and furniture in the Landes
The profession of gilder is not necessarily the best known and yet, it is an exciting activity that allows you to enhance an object, a piece of furniture or even a book by covering it with materials. Leather, fabrics, imitation leather, velvet… the choice is multiple depending on your desires and the item to be covered, a job that requires know-how, precision and dexterity.
Based in Port-de-Lanne in the heart of the Kiwi Valley, Claude and Valérie are now the 3rd generation to share this love of the sheathing-gilding profession, a passion that is passed down from father to son. To complete the sheathing work , gilding can be applied with suitable equipment such as the gilding iron or the roulette, instruments to discover during your visit to the workshop.
Several gildings exist between 24 carat gold leaf, 22 carat gold on plastic film, imitation gold or color marking. Second-hand dealers, collectors, museum curators or passionate individuals, bring your favorite objects back to life with Gainerie d'Art in the Landes.
