Hastingues is a medieval fortified town nestled on a steep hill in the Landes department, on the border with the Pyrénées-Atlantiques. Founded in 1289 by John de Hastings, it offers breathtaking views of the Pays d'Orthe plain and the Gaves Réunis.

This village of character has managed to preserve its historical heritage. You can admire an imposing fortified gate dating from the 14th century, a vestige of its old walls, as well as typical houses.

Hastingues is also the birthplace of Arthous Abbey, a major site in the department. Founded in the 12th century and now restored, the abbey is a departmental heritage center that offers an interactive museum and exhibitions, notably on the pilgrimage routes to Santiago de Compostela.
