The Mining Museum is a place of history and memory located in Saint-Lon-les-Mines. It traces the mining past of the region, particularly that of the exploitation of the lignite mine which operated from the 18th century until its closure in 1949.
The museum offers an immersion into the daily lives of the miners and the industrial history of the site through explanatory panels, display cases of period objects, and testimonials. It also highlights the geological richness of the Saint-Lon soil and the presence of prehistoric man in the region.
