The ArchéoParc is the archaeological activity park of the PréhistoSite
Nestled in lush greenery, the ArchéoParc immerses visitors in the heart of prehistory with reconstructions of nomadic dwellings and the vegetation of the time. Animals play a significant role, with life-size reconstructions of prehistoric animals and real live aurochs.
Every day, cultural mediators bring to life the gestures of our ancestors through demonstrations of flint knapping and fire lighting, and invite visitors to try their hand at prehistoric hunting.
During school holidays (zone A), additional workshops (included in the entrance ticket) are also offered such as prehistoric painting, jewelry making or stone engraving.
Details of the holiday workshops
A visit to the ArchéoParc is complemented by the museum, which displays collections of archaeological objects from excavations carried out at the Grottes du Pape archaeological site since the 19th century. Guided tours are offered every day the site is open, including tours suitable for children.
The archaeological site of the Pope's Caves is also open to visitors, but only by reservation. Two tour options are available from April to September:
- Quick access by vehicle (1/week - 3/week in summer)
- Via the cave trail, hiking (7km - 1/week - in summer 2/week)
