What are the beaches in Hossegor, ocean side?

From the Arcachon Bay to the Basque Country, the beaches of the Landes are among the most beautiful in France. If it is nicknamed the Silver Coast, it is because it is so beautiful. South of the Landes coast, Hossegor is a very pleasant seaside resort for tourists, as it offers many activities. North Beach

North Beach is the first in the town, after Seignosse. It is protected from the residential area of Hossegor by the dune barrier. It is a naturist beach. Quite rare on this type of beach, swimming is supervised there in season. Everyone can go there in a very friendly atmosphere. A parking lot lines the entire seafront boulevard. There is a restaurant at your disposal on the beach. You will also find a surf school there.

The Gravel Pit Beach

La Gravière Beach is a little more difficult for families to access than the central beach, as the dune line is wider and higher. The parking lot along the seafront boulevard is therefore a little further from the water's edge. In addition, there are no specific facilities for children, nor any shops nearby. There is, however, a restaurant and a surf school. Swimming is supervised there in season. It is very popular with sports enthusiasts for its slightly wilder side.

The central beach

The Plage Centrale is a favorite spot for families. There is a pedestrian promenade with shops, cafes, and restaurants. Several parking lots are available along the Boulevard de la Dune. Stairs provide easy access to the beach. Swimming is supervised. It is a lively place, where children are sure to make friends and have fun. However, it is sometimes a victim of its own success and can get very crowded during the season.

The South Beach

The South Beach forms the end of Hossegor's Atlantic coast. It is extended by Notre-Dame Beach, which is located in the town of Capbreton. The walk to the Capbreton Pier is definitely worth the detour. You will have a beautiful view of the Boucarot Pass. It is a very urban beach, where the dune line is non-existent. Beautiful houses line the beach. You will also find surf schools, restaurants, parking... For children, there is even a Mickey Club.

Where to swim in Hossegor, lake side?

If you don't feel like playing in the waves and battling the wind and sand, try the beaches on the lake side. Lake Hossegor has a special feature: it's a marine lake! It is fed with seawater by the Hossegor Canal and the Passe du Boucarot. It is therefore subject to tides. You can walk around it. Part of its banks are bordered by the Landes forest. On the other side, it's Hossegor's town center and its tourist activities. Water sports are favored here, as there is no current and you can enjoy pleasant trips on the water by boat, canoe or paddleboard... Four beaches are at your disposal.

Cork Oak Beach

Chênes-Lièges Beach is a lovely beach, allowing you to go from the lake to the ocean in no time. It's only 2 km from the coastline. It's directly accessible from Hossegor town centre. It's also the starting point for a lovely walk along the Hossegor Canal to the Capbreton Pier. This fine sandy beach is also popular with families, as it has all the amenities you need: restrooms, a restaurant, paddleboard rentals, and more.

The White Beach

Plage Blanche is also a family beach with activities for children. Little ones can have fun at the " Penguin Club." Older children can rent paddleboards. However, for food, you'll have to go to the surrounding beaches. The pedestrian promenade around the lake starts on this beach.

The Plahe du Rey

Rey Beach is a small beach on the eastern shore of the lake. It is quite narrow and is located on the edge of the road. With its sailing school, it is more attractive to sports enthusiasts. On the other hand, the Landes forest is very close by. You can relax by the water after a walk in the forest.

The Park Beach

Parc Beach is a small beach south of the lake. While the beach isn't very large, there is a park at the far end. Rosny Park offers shade from its trees and pleasant lawns. It also has a children's playground.

What is the best beach in Hossegor?

The beach that will please the whole family, young and old alike, is probably the Central Beach. It is close to the city center and its entertainment. You will be able to prolong the pleasure of a day of relaxation or sport. You will find good restaurants there, with sea views, to taste fish and other seafood... Young people will appreciate the very pleasant evenings of the seaside resort.

It has all the comforts families need : amenities, games, and lifeguards. There are all the traditional seaside shops to find some beach toys or a holiday souvenir.

Sports enthusiasts are not left out. Walkers will appreciate the walks along the ocean to enjoy the sea air in all seasons. In addition, it is located in the extension of the Gravière beach, a very popular spot for surfers.

On the North and Gravière beaches, top-level surfers compete. International competitions are even held there every year, including the Quick Silver Pro France.
