Sentier de découverte « l’Etang de la Mailloueyre » Nature Reserve in Mimizan

The Mailloueyre Pond Discovery Trail is a loop that will delight hikers. The terrains are very varied on this 12 km circuit: sand, dirt road, road, stairs on the dunes… The landscapes are also linked together and are not alike… You start with the banks of the Courant de Mimizan. Then you cross the forest domain, you walk along the coastal dune, you survey the banks of the Mailloueyre ponds ....
The trail is located in a Natura 2000 classified site. Along the way, some curiosities of maritime heritage will attract your attention, in particular the "piteys", these pontoons used for glass eel fishing or the "Pont des Trounques". To make sure you don't miss a thing, the Mimizan Tourist Office provides you with a topographical guide. You can also enjoy the view from the gazebo of the observatory at the edge of the pond.
