In Seignosse, the Étang Noir Nature Reserve is an atypical environment. The fresh waters are blocked by the dune ridge of the coast and form ponds, ponds and other wetlands on the edge of the Landes coast. Its name comes from the dark color of its waters. Indeed, it is the depth of the pond and its dense mud that gives it an intriguing “darkness”.
The walk is very pleasant because it is shaded. You can get very close to the banks of the pond thanks to the wooden footbridges which avoid damaging the natural environment. And if you are discreet, you may come across some Cistude turtles, European minks and many birds. Its flora is also significant, with in particular beautiful specimens of Marsh Hibiscus.
