    • Biscarrosse is divided into three sectors:

      • Biscarrosse-Ville, located inland;
      • Biscarrosse-Lac;
      • Biscarrosse-Beach.

      The three form an authentic Biscarrosse, typical of the Landes towns which border the Atlantic coast.

      A bit of history

      30 kilometers south of Arcachon, Biscarrosse owes its name to Biskar, which means dune in Basque. As you will have understood, it is indeed because the place is surrounded by sand dunes.

      However, for centuries, Biscarrosse was more of a forest village. The locals lived from the exploitation of the Landes forest. It was the arrival of the railway and the rise of aviation that opened up new perspectives for the territory.

      Today, it is the beaches that attract thousands of tourists every year and have made it a trendy seaside resort.

      What to do in Biscarrosse?

      “Bisca”, as aficionados like to call it, offers you various activities:

      • The waves of the Atlantic Ocean are perfect for surfing and bodyboarding. Surfers of all levels and from all over the world flock to the beaches in the summer months.
      • On the lake, paddlers and fishermen come together to practice their passion.
      • On land, explore the region by bike or on foot through the green landscapes of the Landes.
      • Make cultural discoveries in Biscarrosse's museums such as the seaplane museum or the museum of traditions.

    The Biscarrosse Tourist Office is more than just an administrative stop on the way to a holiday; it's an anchor point for anyone wanting to understand and experience a region that's more than just a postcard. From the moment you enter, the tone is clear: this isn't a place to pass through casually, but a gateway. The walls, brochures, and signs aren't there to furnish a cold lobby—they structure the offerings, tell the story of the landscape, and contextualize the history. You'll find what you're looking for, but also what you didn't even know you were looking for. And this second aspect is precisely the added value of a good tourist office. What distinguishes the Biscarrosse Tourist Office is its ability to put a rich and diverse geographical area into perspective: sand dunes, vast lakes, deep forests, ocean beaches, and lakeside villages. There's no formulaic approach, but rather an ability to connect the elements, to bring out a sense of territorial coherence. The sheer variety—which might seem overwhelming at first glance—becomes a compelling narrative when someone takes the time to explain it. The staff combines competence and availability without being ostentatious. Here, you don't feel a sense of obligation, but rather genuine understanding: these advisors know that good advice can transform a day, a stay, an entire experience. Their answers are precise, grounded in reality and the local calendar, avoiding the pitfalls of generic recommendations that lose their appeal as soon as you walk through the door. Technically, the office is well-organized. Information flows clearly—thematic brochures, practical maps, seasonal activity programs—and digital tools to aid exploration are well-integrated without ever replacing human interaction. This offers a perspective on the region that is never one-dimensional but always accessible. Ultimately, the Biscarrosse Tourist Office does more than just answer logistical questions. It sometimes transforms a vague idea of travel into a coherent, desirable, and achievable itinerary. It is the link between a place one passes through and a place one embraces within oneself. This is an important distinction, and it is precisely what will make the difference between a run-of-the-mill trip and a true moment of discovery.
