Where to swim in Capbreton?

Capbreton is a large town that runs along the Atlantic coast, for nearly 6 km. It has the largest number of beaches in the Landes department. Moreover, it is a very pleasant seaside resort. Whether you prefer more urban beaches, well equipped and safe for children, or whether you are looking for a more natural and isolated atmosphere, you have the choice to swim near the only port of the Landes. Here is an overview of the 7 beaches of Capbreton:

Capbreton Beach

  • Central Beach is an “urban” beach. It faces the town, but is isolated from it by the dune belt. It therefore has the advantage of offering a natural environment, while providing all the amenities you may need. It is also secure, with surveillance of the area during the summer and access for people with reduced mobility. Many restaurants and shops border it.

What you will love : It is a lively beach, ideal for families.

  • Plage du Prévent is an extension of Plage de l'Estacade. It is a very “ civilized ” and lively beach. The Promenade du Front de Mer borders it and connects with the city centre. You will find many shops, restaurants, bars and entertainment during the summer. It is a friendly and family place.

What you will love: The entertainment on the Promenade du Front de Mer.

What you will love: Its fun and sporting entertainment and activities.

  • Plage de l'Estacade is one of the few small beaches in the Landes. Its configuration is particular, because it is along the Passe du Boucarot , which allows boats to reach the Port of Capbreton. The Hossegor canal also flows into it. On the port, there are rental agencies for boats or other craft.

What you will love: Take a walk on the Estacade , above the sea.

Not far from the city and easily accessible, it is a good compromise between surfer beaches and family beaches. Beaten by winds and waves, it is a privileged site for nature lovers.

Take a walk on the beaches of Capbreton

A walk along the great beaches of the Landes is one of the essentials. Whether you like landscaped walks, convenient for families with children or pushchairs, or you are a seasoned walker, there is something for everyone.

For Sunday walkers and short legs, prefer the Estacade beach or the Prévent beach. Hikers will prefer longer routes. By following the Dune path, you start from the Savane beach, you continue on that of the Piste, then the Océanides and you can even extend your walk in the Landes forest.

Are you on a bike? A large cycle path starts from the Port of Capbreton, runs along the beaches of l'Estacade and Prévent, via the Promenade du Front de Mer. If you have a mountain bike, try the paths that crisscross the dunes of the Savane beaches and following.

Port of Capbreton

Want to walk your dog on the beach? On the beaches, animals are rarely allowed. In the south of the Landes, a municipal decree regulates access to beach animals. And yet, the beach is so nice to run your dog. If he likes water, this is also an opportunity to give him a refreshing bath. But above all, you will be able to play with your companion. In any case, remember to consult the rules of the beach before going there with your pet. Avoid surveillance zones, they are generally more suitable for families than for dogs. Choose outings, very early in the morning or early evening, when there are fewer people. The regulations sometimes specify whether the beaches are authorized out of season, most allow dogs outside the summer tourist season.
