Préchacq les Bains, cradle of La Hire, the famous companion of Joan of Arc, better known as a valet de coeur, has 5 hot springs rich in sulfur and calcium, and an astonishing vegetable-mineral mud deposited by the floods of the Adour.
The Romans already knew the virtues of the mud of the Adour and Montaigne stayed regularly at Préchacq les Bains. In 1610, Sully had the first spa building built, the remains of which can be discovered at a place called "trou madame".
